First performed in Greece 2,500 years ago, the events of Oedipus Rex unfold as a plague grips the city of Thebes. In seeking to save his city, Oedipus is confronted with the truth of his past and its lingering repercussions. In one hero’s tragic demise, this contemporary translation invites reflection on truth, existence, purpose, mortality, and self-knowledge.
